What to expect and FAQs

What to expect

  1. Consultation

Free and without obligation. We check your skin and hair type and explain the effects and risks.

  2. Patch test

A brief pulse on a small patch of skin, usually on the hand or leg. Free of charge, so you know how it feels before you decide.

  3. Your sessions

Usually 6 to 8 sessions, between 6 and 12 depending on the individual, usually 4 to 8 weeks apart. Joanna will estimate the number you are likely to need at your consultation, based on your skin and hair type.

Several sessions are usually needed, and results vary from person to person: they cannot be guaranteed. Very light, red or grey hair usually responds poorly.

Preparation

  • Shave the skin thoroughly with a wet razor the day before.
  • For 6 weeks beforehand and throughout your course of treatment, no waxing and no epilator.
  • Avoid the sun and sunbeds during your course of treatment.
  • On the day, your skin should be clean, without lotion or perfume.

The session

Joanna treats the agreed area with the diode laser while the skin surface is cooled. Most people find this easy to tolerate: a brief sensation of warmth or a pinprick.

Afterwards

  • The treated hairs fall out after a few days or weeks.
  • For two days, no intense exercise, no sweating, and no perfume or perfumed cosmetics on the treated area.

Number and spacing

  • Usually 6 to 8 sessions, between 6 and 12 depending on the individual.
  • In Joanna's experience, the biggest changes show after 6 to 7 sessions.
  • Joanna will estimate the number you are likely to need at your consultation, based on your skin and hair type.
  • Usually 4 to 8 weeks apart, depending on the area and how the hair grows back.

When we do not treat

  • Not during pregnancy.
  • Not on freshly tanned skin.
  • Not on areas with wounds or active inflammation.
  • Joanna works around tattoos and covers them during treatment.
  • Joanna checks medication and other contraindications in person at your consultation.
